Sunday School

We at MWPC take the formation of our young disciples to heart. Each classroom and curriculum is designed or chosen intentionally as it relates to learning styles, childhood and youth development, and our theology: Everyone is a Child of God.

Early Childhood

The early childhood classroom is set up to experience God rather than learn about God. Children will gather for a presentation of the Bible story followed by an invitation to respond to receiving God’s word at one of the three stations: Art, Prayer, or Reading.

K-3

Kindergarten through 3rd graders are studying Sparkhouse’s “Holy Moly”. During each lesson our children will be invited to Discover, Relate, Connect, and Create. This lesson model allows our children to be able to first Discover the stories of God, then explore how to Relate to that story. Next, our children find ways to Connect the stories of God to their own life, and finally they get to create something that helps ground the story for them.

4-5

The Tweens class uses Sparkhouse’s “Connect” program, which teaches kids some tools for interpreting the Bible. The class begins with a fun video introduction to the lesson of the day, then helps them explore connections to the whole Bible, and finally asks them to create something to show what they’ve learned.

6-12

Our 6th - 12th graders have a custom curriculum specifically built around their needs and desires. Students discover what God says about community, who is in our community, and how God calls us to live into community. Through exploration of two different faith denominations, students see how God’s love embraces all. Lastly, we emphasize God’s grace and its revolution in our hearts and minds.
